Estonian Citizens’ Consultation

The Estonian Citizens’ Consultation gathered on February 10-11 60 citizens in Laulasmaa to develop the Estonian perspectives on the future of Europe. The citizens participating in the Estonian consultation were randomly invited according to criteria of representativeness: different age groups, different educational levels, gender, and other Member States-specific criteria were considered to ensure an approximately representative composition of the consultations. Special guests that attended the event were: Andres Tarand (Member of the European Parliament), Noel Kilkenny (Ambassador of Ireland to Estonia), Miloš Lexa (Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Estonia) As the outcome, the document „Citizens’ Perspectives on the Future of Europe” was published and it is available at http://www.european-citizensconsultations.eu/fileadmin/user_upload/Estoniancitizensperspective1.pdf

The outcomes are actively communicated to national policy-makers and will feed into the Final Consultation in May in Brussels. All national outcomes serve as the basis for a European-level synthesis during the Final Consultation on 9/10 May 2007.
