Growing accountable – conference on accountability and transparency in grant-giving

As the NGO Fund operator in Estonia, the Open Estonia Foundation is hosting a conference for mutual learning for civil society grant-makers on May 20-21, 2013.

The conference "Growing accountable – conference on accountability and transparency in grant-giving" is organized in collaboration with the European Center for Not-for-Profit Law as a complementary activity for strengthening cooperation and sharing best practices between programme operators of EEA/Norway Grants.

The event takes place on May 20-21 in Tallinn, bringing together grant-makers and experts of accountability. Discussions will open up the concepts of legitimacy, accountability and transparency, and discuss what works and what does not in creating models for just and transparent grant-making. It will look at some of the main trends in regulations, explore self-regulation tools, discuss choices in governance of a funding organisation for avoiding conflicts of interest, and highlight best models adopted by fund operators to manage multiple roles in accountability.

Key speakers at the conference are David Bonbright (Keystone Accountability) and Nilda Bullain (International Centre for Not-for Profit Law). Anja Osterhaus (Transparency International), Hanna Surmatz (European Foundation Center) and Boris Strečanský (Center for Philanthropy) will also share their views.

The conference takes place with the support of EEA Grants.
