International Observers of Parliament Elections Visited Estonia

A joint project with the European Movement in Estonia was initiated by Open Estonia Foundation to bring in 21 observers from three countries: Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine. The program of the study visit consisted of 8 working days. The overall objective of the project was to contribute to the strengthening of democratic developments in those countries. The project aimed to demonstrate the following:

  1. The best practices of Estonian civil society since the end of 80s;
  2. Information on the role of NGOs in political decision making process in Estonia today and future perspectives;
  3. General overview of the Estonian electoral system and the possibility to monitor and analyze the elections of the Parliament in Estonia.

After taking part in the study visit, the participants claimed to have gained more knowledge about democratic processes and experiences of transition in Estonia.
