Civil Society Contact Group publishes study: “'Civil Dialogue', Making It Work Better”
NGOs play a growing role in shaping the EU project through, amongst others, participation in a ‘civil dialogue’ with the EU institutions. Yet there is little understanding of how to make this dialogue work more effectively. The Civil Society Contact Group thus decided to commission the study ’civil dialogue’ making it work better in order to review existing practices and table recommendations to the current debates on EU citizenship. Based on an overview of dialogue with EU institutions and on case studies with a particular focus on national NGOs’ involvement, it looks at the practice of ’civil dialogue’, reviewing what works, and what doesn’t.
