NGOs TO MEET EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT CANDIDATES

OEF is organizing a meeting on June 8 in Tallinn between NGO representatives and European Parliament candidates under the title "Citizens' Europe." The meeting, organized within the framework of the Estonian Civil Society Contact Group for the Future of Europe, aims to clarify candidates' views on issues that are important to NGOs. Candidates from the six parties now represented in the Estonian Parliament will answer questions on social issues, development cooperation and environmental problems, and participatory democracy. The discussion will be lead by the editor-in-chief of the main Estonian daily "Postimees." To enable the participation of NGOs throughout Estonia, the debate will be broadcast on the Internet (http://wms2.neti.tv/fond), and viewers also are encouraged to send their questions to the candidates by e-mail.
