LOCAL CAPACITY BUILDING FOR PUBLIC HEALTH MANAGEMENT

Open Society Institute - Macedonia

A conference for promotion of the Public Health Management Capacity Building Project in Macedonia was held on June 4-6 in Ohrid, as a joint effort of OSI-Macedonia, the Medical Faculty for Social Medicine, and the Ministry of Health of Macedonia. Representatives of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention-Atlanta and the Croatian County Public Health Management Capacity Building Program presented the Croatian program and shared their experience with relevant stakeholders from Macedonia. Discussions among the participants helped in adapting the Croatian program for Macedonian circumstances in order to train multidisciplinary teams to formulate and develop health priorities at the local level. NEW LAW ESTABLISHES INDEPENDENT TELECOMMUNICATIONS BODY

On July 24, the Parliament of Ukraine passed a new Law on Telecommunications, which mandates the creation of an Independent Regulatory Body on Telecommunications consisting of government, business, and NGO representative.
