The Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the Open Estonia Foundation invite you to a film and discussion evening "Justice for the Detained: Confronting Russia's Repressions" on December 1
The Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the Open Estonia Foundation invite you to a film screening and discussion on 1 December from 17:00 to 20:30. The event will take place at Artis cinema.
The evening will feature a screening of “Prisoners: The System of Terror” by Evgeniya Chirikova, followed by a panel discussion exploring the film’s themes. The event will conclude with a small reception.
The film explores how Russia has built and expanded a covert terror apparatus in the territories of Ukraine it has occupied, bringing to light the harrowing journeys of abducted civilians—from beatings and torture to isolation, fabricated charges, and indefinite detention in secret prisons. The film was produced by Activatica, a news platform covering grassroots activism in Russia, connecting journalists, activists, and political prisoners, and supporting local initiatives.
Registration is open until 27 November HERE.
Speakers at the event:
- Gert Antsu | Estonian diplomat and representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
- Dr. Jade McGlynn | Non-resident Research Fellow at the International Centre for Defence and Security
- Riina Kaljurand | Director of the Division of Russia, Belarus, Central Asia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The discussion will be moderated by Sergei Metlev, Editor-in-Chief of the Russian-language edition of Postimees.
